The short answer: For 1,790 € we carry out the complete anonymous urn interment including all municipal fees. The one difference to our standard offer: we choose the cemetery – one of the NRW cities with low fees, at most two hours by car from the last place of residence.
The price difference to our standard offer from 2,300 € is not less service. It is the city. Municipal fees for exactly the same type of grave range from 758 € to 2,504 € in North Rhine-Westphalia – see the NRW fee index. Anyone flexible about the city pays less.
Which cemeteries we use
- Dortmund – 820 € municipal fees, cremation already included
- Wuppertal – 758 € plus cremation
- Mönchengladbach – 977 € plus cremation
- Oberhausen – 1,211 € plus cremation
Which one it will be depends on the place of residence and availability. You learn the specific cemetery before signing, not afterwards. If the proposed place does not suit you, nothing is lost – the standard offer in your own city remains open.
What two hours means in practice
North Rhine-Westphalia is densely populated. From the Ruhr area Dortmund is usually under 45 minutes away, from Cologne about an hour, from Bonn roughly ninety minutes. Two hours is the outer limit, not the rule. The memorial ground is open to the public and you may visit it at any time, even though the exact grave – as with every anonymous interment – is not marked.
What the 1,790 € include
- collection and transfer, around the clock
- coffin for cremation, garments, hygienic care
- cremation in a certified crematorium
- urn for the interment
- all cemetery fees of the burying city
- all formalities: death certificates, deregistrations, official paperwork
- interment in the anonymous communal grave field
Not included – as with any anonymous interment – are a funeral service with a speaker, floral decoration beyond the essentials, obituaries and a later memorial stone.
Who this suits, and who it does not
Suitable if the deceased wished for an anonymous interment and the city plays no part; if funds are limited; if nobody will be visiting a grave regularly.
Not suitable if a particular cemetery matters – because relatives are already buried there – or if the family needs a place close by. Then the standard offer is the right choice, even at a higher price.
If even this is beyond your means
Then the answer is not a cheaper offer but an application to the social welfare office. Under § 74 SGB XII the necessary costs are covered where they cannot reasonably be expected of those liable. Talk to us before you sign anything.
